Great Plains is a mid-market business accounting software or ERP software package. The Great Plains system itself is considered a giant in the industry and has delivered a reliable ERP and accounting solution for decades. Recently, Microsoft announced that they would be discontinuing support for Dynamics Great Plains by 2025.
Microsoft Dynamics AX was one of Microsoft's enterprise resource planning software products. AX, formerly known as Axapta, was bought by Microsoft, before they decided to bring things into the cloud. In 2018, its fat client interface was removed and the web product was rebranded as Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations (F&O).
Business central
(BC)
Formerly Navision, then Microsoft NAV, and now known as Microsoft Business Central, this is a cloud based ERP solution that integrates with Dynamics 365. Equipped with a smooth interface, it is a cloud replacement for a GP level product and ready to use with few customizations.
finance & Operations (F&O)
Microsoft Finance & Operations, formerly AX, is a bigger, complex, and robust ERP application. It is a large upgrade in capabilities, sophistication, and cost. F&O is for large enterprise companies and competes with Oracle and SAP (the big boys) while staying native to the Microsoft Technology Stack.
